Police Response to Hate Crimes

Hate crimes and hate/bias incidents are major issues for all police officers because of their unique impact on victims as well as the community.

When you have completed this course you will be able to:

• Explain the difference between a hate crime and a hate incident
• List the Criminal Code sections related to hate crimes
• Describe the impact hate crimes have on victims and the larger community
• Determine the indicators of a hate crime or incident
• Summarize the investigative process of a hate crime
