The Network Webinar Series:

Resilient First Responders: Protecting Members Through Prevention

May 5, 2026 / noon – 1 p.m. (ET).

Join CPKN for a Network Webinar Series on Tuesday, May 5 from noon to 1 p.m. (ET) for an informative webinar led by Steven Boychyn, Director of Training, Wounded Warriors Canada, and Dr. Yasmeen Krameddine, national expert in de-escalation and resilience.

Police and public safety organizations are facing unprecedented risk exposure: rising public scrutiny, increasing complaint volumes, expanding legal liability, and greater expectations for accountability in an environment where most member protection still begins after something has gone wrong.

This Network Webinar Series introduces a proactive approach to member protection, focused on reducing preventable risk before incidents, complaints, or investigations occur.

Why This Matters Now

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a timely reminder that mental wellness is not only a personal issue, but an operational and organizational one, especially for the policing and public safety community.

Many of the most costly and high‑risk incidents are not the result of intent or misconduct, but of stress‑impaired decision‑making and communication breakdowns. Under sustained pressure, cognitive processing narrows, threat perception increases, communication becomes reactive, and critical opportunities for de‑escalation are missed. These dynamics directly contribute to complaint‑triggering interactions, the escalation of routine encounters, and a greater likelihood of force being used.

This session will emphasize the importance of individual and organizational commitment to trauma awareness, psychological safety, education, and resilience, and will connect these concepts to real‑world operational realities through facilitated discussion.

Please note that this presentation will be recorded and will be offered in English only.
