CPKN’s new trauma-informed learning series, Resilient First Responders, combines evidence-informed online learning, facilitated dialogue, and a shared resilience framework to build awareness, strengthen capacity, and equip personnel with practical tools for real-world application.

This learning series includes five integrated components designed to:

  • Build personal coping skills and resilience.
  • Support psychologically safe, informed workplaces.
  • Reinforce organizational wellness goals.
  • Equip teams to handle stress before it becomes critical.

Setting the Stage

Kick off with subject matter experts from Wounded Warriors Canada and Dr. Yasmeen Krameddine, National Expert in De-Escalation. Establish a shared foundation, align expectations, and connect learning to operational realities though facilitated discussion.

    Core Trauma Concepts: Wounded Warriors Canada

    Asynchronous online learning

    Understand how trauma impacts performance, well-being, and team culture. Learn to recognize trauma responses, strengthen coping strategies, and support colleagues in high-stress environments.

      Psychological Safety and Resilience for Police Organizations

      Asynchronous online learning

      Build skills to manage stress and prevent occupational stress injuries. Scenario-based learning explores multiple roles and introduces the 7 Pillars of Resilience, from emotional intelligence to team cohesion.

        The Resilience Scale: A Tool for Change

        Asynchronous online learning

        Apply a practical framework from the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative to assess and strengthen resilience over time. Identify supports, track progress, and build self-awareness.

        Please note that this course is free when taken independently and is included as a complimentary component of this bundle.

              Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) is a national mental health service provider dedicated to serving Trauma Exposed Organizations, Trauma Exposed Professionals and their families. WWC specializes in providing culturally informed services that utilize a combination of education, counselling, and training approaches to support resiliency and recovery from post-trauma injuries.

              Dr. Yasmine Krameddine

              Dr. Yasmeen Krameddine (PhD) is an internationally recognized researcher and trainer helping police organizations reduce use-of-force incidents, lower complaints, and strengthen officer performance under pressure. She is the Founder of ProTraining and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta.

              With over 15 years of experience working with police services across North America, her work addresses key challenges including burnout, public scrutiny, and decision-making in high-stress environments. Her research with a Canadian police service involving 850+ officers demonstrated a 41 per cent reduction in use-of-force incidents and significant improvements in efficiency and public trust. She supports leaders in building resilient, high-performing police organizations.
