The Occupational Health and Safety Criminal Investigations course consists of four 20-minute e-learning modules covering: occupational health and safety (OHS) criminal investigations and the law; the investigation process; the causes of serious workplace incidents; and questions, evidence, and laying charges.
When you have completed this course, you will be able to:
- Define OHS incidents and explain how they can impact people’s lives
- Summarize what happened at the Westray mine tragedy
- Explain how the Criminal Code was amended in response to the tragedy
- List the sections of the Criminal Code that open organizations up to criminal charges
- List the relevant charging sections of the Criminal Code for workplace incidents
- Describe the previous flawed process for OHS criminal investigations
- List the objectives and requirements for these investigations
- Describe the new process for OHS criminal investigations
