The Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) and the Canadian Police College (CPC) is strengthening their long-standing partnership by embracing a more strategic, collaborative approach to police education and training across Canada.

Building on a foundation of collaboration that has spanned years, both organizations are now intentionally strengthening their relationship and exploring innovative ways to elevate their collective impact. This renewed commitment is aimed at not only maintaining the high standards already set by both organizations but also forging new opportunities for joint initiatives and enhanced learning experiences for those working in policing.

“This is a natural partnership to strengthen and nurture,” said Sonia Poulin, President, CPKN. “We admire the fantastic work that has been done at the Canadian Police College for the past 50 years and believe there are strong synergies between the work that we are doing at CPKN that can complement the work that is happening at CPC.”

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the CPC has long been recognized for providing advanced and specialized training, as well as executive development, for police officers nationwide. The CPC has been one of the few permanent learning institutions in Canada that offers in-person training for police officers across Canada and internationally. Each year, its participants benefit from more than 50 specialized courses and workshops, networking opportunities, and the chance to build mentoring relationships that extend beyond provincial and national borders.

“We welcome the opportunity to work with CPKN, which is regarded across Canada as being the experts in online learning for public safety professionals,” echoed Rob Gilchrist, Executive Director, CPC. “This is an opportunity to work together to elevate the work we are both doing and ensure that police officers feel knowledgeable and supported before they arrive at the CPC and long after they’ve left our doors.”

The next stage of this partnership will see CPKN providing levelling and additional training courses for CPC participants, which can be taken either before or after their core training. These online offerings are designed to complement CPC’s specialized programs in areas such as explosives training, forensic identification, investigative techniques (including drug investigations and human trafficking), and Indigenous policing.

And this is just the beginning.

As the partnership evolves, both CPKN and CPC are committed to identifying and acting on new opportunities for strategic collaboration, ensuring that Canadian police professionals continue to receive relevant and timely education and support.
