Course Overview
We at the British Columbia First Nations Justice Council are grateful to welcome you into this online, immersive educational experience. Here, we will be guiding you through an overview of the historical and modern-day experiences and contexts surrounding Indigenous People’s experiences across British Columbia.
- Recall foundational language related to Indigenous Peoples.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Indigenous worldviews.
- Reflect upon the overrepresentation of Indigenous Peoples in the criminal justice system, and the link between colonialization and incarceration.
- Identify the impact of colonialism and systemic discrimination on one’s own life as well as on Indigenous Peoples over time.
- Identify practices and skills to assist in developing positive relationships with Indigenous persons and communities.
