Course Overview
Public alerts are an important consideration when there is an immediate threat to public safety. This course is for all RCMP employees and will provide an overview of public alerts, as well as what is required to initiate one.
This course is an online-only course designed to provide awareness on public alerts. The following modules are covered:
Module 1: Introduction to Public Alerts
Module 2: How the Police-Initiated Public Safety Alert System Works
Module 3: Issuing a Police-Initiated Public Safety Alert
Module 4: Case Study
When you have completed this course you will be able to:
- Recognize how public alerts function
- Reflect on what is required to initiate a public alert
- Be informed about the basic requirements involved with issuing an alert as well as alternatives to public alerts
- Be provided with a case study as an example of an issued public alert
- Have additional resources related to emergency alerts
