Course Overview
The MPUR: Missing Children – AMBER Alert course provides front line police officers with an overview of the AMBER Alert Program. Front line police officers will also learn the information and knowledge they need to determine whether an AMBER Alert is appropriate in a given circumstance, the steps involved in issuing an AMBER Alert, and the required follow-up.
When you have completed this course you will be able to:
- Summarize the AMBER Alert Program’s origin, history, and mandate
- Describe Alert Ready—Canada’s National public alerting system
- Identify the various partners associated with the AMBER Alert Program
- Describe the role of AMBER Alert Coordinators, the NCMPUR, and the NAAWG
- Explain how the AMBER Alert Program functions in Canada
- Identify some alternatives to AMBER Alert
- Apply the knowledge acquired throughout this course in practical applications of the AMBER Alert Program
