Across Canada, the language is shifting—from "Indigenous engagement" to "Indigenous relations." The change is not cosmetic. Engagement implies a transaction when it should be about relationships. For police and public safety, that distinction matters: meaningful Indigenous relations are ongoing, reciprocal, and built on trust — not a checkbox before a project moves forward.
Join us on Wednesday, June 24 from noon to 1 p.m. (ET) for this timely and important conversation led by Jennifer David, Senior Consultant and Lead, Truth and Reconciliation, NVision Insight Group.
This webinar walks participants through three connected stages of building trust with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. We begin with Indigenous cultures and worldviews—how Indigenous perspectives on land, kinship, language, and ways of being differ from the dominant Western paradigm.
We then explore the intercultural skills to bridge those worldviews: self-knowledge, adaptation, communication, and 'showing up in a good way.' Finally, we ground Indigenous relations in what makes them necessary: authentic relations are the practical expression of respect for Indigenous rights and community protocols.
This webinar is a must-attend during National Indigenous History Month and in the days following National Indigenous Peoples Day. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn, reflect, and engage. Register to be part of the conversation.
Please note that this presentation will be offered in English only and will be recorded but offered exclusively on our learning management system.
