Order of the Black Socks

CPKN is once again very pleased to host the Order of the Black Socks presentations. Based on a memorable anecdote by Insp. Steve Pilote (retd) of the Winnipeg Police Service, Black Socks are presented to those organizations who demonstrate leadership in the adoption of e-learning.
During the first Black Socks presentation in 2008, twelve organizations were inducted into the Order:
- Durham Regional Police Service
- Winnipeg Police Service
- Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
- Waterloo Regional Police Service
- Calgary Police Service
- Edmonton Police Service
- Toronto Police Service
- York Regional Police
- Kentville Police Service
- RCMP
- RCMP Canada Firearms Centre
- Police Sector Council

During Stanhope 2009, members of the Order inducted three new member organizations:
- Ontario Police Video Training Association (accepted by Jamie Saunders and Michael Knight)
- Ontario Provincial Police (accepted by John Tod)
- Halton Regional Police Service (accepted by Duncan Foot)
- Danny Murphy, our host for the 2009 wrap up dinner and celebration, was also made an honorary member of the Order.
