CPKN, a not for profit corporation, is Canada's leading provider of e-learning training for police and law enforcement. CPKN works in collaboration with police services, training academies, and recognized subject matter experts in the Canadian police community to develop high-quality online training products that meet the frontline needs of police and other law enforcement personnel.
CPKN was established in 2004 to define and develop cost-effective training courses and tools to enhance police services training activities. CPKN's founding partners include the National Research Council, Holland College's Justice Knowledge Network (JKN), and the Canadian police community. Today, CPKN works with numerous police services, training institutions, and sector organizations across Canada, including the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Police Sector Council.
CPKN is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that provides strategic council and leadership. The Board is comprised primarily of senior level police officials within the Canadian police community.
CPKN was established in March 2004 and officially launched its national online learning portal in October 2004.
CPKN offers a growing catalogue of e-learning courses that are specifically designed to meet the training needs of frontline officers. To view or download the catalogue, please visit the Course Catalogue.
In addition to developing priority training for frontline officers, CPKN provides a range of other online learning services including custom development and hosting, designated portals, and implementation assistance. For more information, please visit Products and Services.
CPKN's course offerings range from $25.00 - $200 (+ GST) per participant. Volume discounting and licensing options are also available. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or a quotation.
More and more organizations are realizing the benefits of blended and/or stand-alone e-learning solutions for training personnel in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. e-Learning provides benefits at both individual and organizational levels:
CPKN courses are designed and built first and foremost for Canadian police officers. However, many of CPKN’s courses are also open to other law enforcement or public security agencies. For more information, please contact email@example.com.
For information on how your organization can work with CPKN to develop e-learning products, please visit the Content Provider page.
CPKN provides Course Completion certificates which indicate that a learner has successfully completed all of the requirements for an e-learning course.
When a CPKN course is used as part of a blended learning program, the delivery agency may provide certification. However, in these cases, CPKN’s Course Completion certificate only verifies completion of the online component, and not the overall program.
At this time CPKN is working with police and academia to determine eligibility for continuing education/post secondary credit. Please check back with CPKN for future developments in this area.
Your CPKN training record may be accessed by clicking on the Transcript tab of your account page. CPKN may also provide additional reporting to your agency. Please contact Support for additional information.
CPKN accepts Visa, MasterCard, cheque, or money order. Online payment is not available at this time.
Yes, CPKN requires supervisory approval to verify your identity as a police officer. It is one of the methods CPKN uses to ensure the security of course content. Before your registration can be processed, contact information for your training manager or supervisor must be provided in the appropriate section of the registration form. CPKN will contact this individual for identity verification.
