This course is delivered by the Justice Institute of British Columbia. All registrations are processed by JIBC. Learner and content support is also provided by JIBC.

The Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100 course introduces students to a proven incident site management system for emergencies or disasters. The goal of the course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the Incident Command System, its organization, priciples, basic terminology and common responsibilites.

This course is delivered in four units:
  1. Orientation to ICS
  2. ICS Principles
  3. ICS Responsiblities
  4. ICS Scenario

British Columbia and general versions of this training are available. Within British Columbia, the Province has adopted ICS as the standard for emergency site management as part of its BC Emergency Response Management System (BCERMS).

Learning Objectives

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the Incident Command System.
  • Identify the types of incidents that ICS is used for.
  • Explain the twelve ICS principles.
  • Identify common responsibilities.

Target Audience

This course is the first in serices of ICS training courses and is recommended for all first responders and site-support personnel.
