

Graffiti is a growing problem for police services across Canada, particularly in urban centres. Defacing public or private property projects negative images of a community, decreases property values, and generates concerns about personal safety. There are various motives associated with graffiti crime, ranging from meaningless vandalism to gang-related communications and intimidation. In every case, graffiti impacts on local communities and businesses and cultivates an atmosphere for the perpetration of other crimes.
The Graffiti Investigation course is designed to educate police officers on the crime of graffiti and to explain the procedures to follow when they are responding to the scene of a graffiti complaint.
