Counterfeit Money

Counterfeit Money

This video is offered as a free learning resource to all registered police users. As such, there is no associated certificate of completion. It is intended for information only.

In 2007, counterfeiters passed over 141,000 fake bills to unsuspecting victims in Canada, amassing losses of about $3.3 million dollars. The Counterfeit Money - It's Criminal! A Police Officer's Guide video was developed by the RCMP in partnership with the Bank of Canada, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Sûreté du Québec to raise awareness about counterfeiting.

In addition to showing viewers how to verify bank note security features, this six minute video briefly reviews the investigation of an actual counterfeit operation and the services provided by the RCMP's Forensic Laboratory to all police services in prosecuting and deterring counterfeiting activity.

Level

This video is an awareness level overview for police officers on counterfeiting.
