Board of Directors

The Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) was incorporated as a Part II, not-for-profit corporation in June 2005 under the Canada Corporations Act. The CPKN Board of Directors was formed thereafter and the first official meeting of the Board was held in September 2005.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is comprised of seven members representing CPKN's member organizations (Holland College, National Research Council and the Canadian police community), bringing with them expertise in the policing, law enforcement, education and government sectors.

The Board includes senior leaders from police services, training institutions and provincial governments. Directors are elected for a two-year renewable term by the membership at the Annual General Meeting generally held in September.

The role of the Board is to:

  • Develop and, when applicable, execute high level strategic initiatives
  • Authorize expenditures and establish executive limitations
  • Approve the selection of Advisory Board Members
  • Approve audited financial statements and the Annual Report at the Annual Meeting
  • Delegate authority for the operation to its officers and employees
