Mr. Gheysen began his policing career in 1975 with the London Police Service, later moving to the Aylmer Police Service where he gained experience in a wide range of policing operations. In March of 1987, he was appointed Chief of Police for the Town of Aylmer where he remained until his appointment as Deputy Director of the Ontario Police College (OPC) in August 1995. In July 2001, he was appointed the OPC's Director.
Mr. Gheysen holds a B.A. in Social Sciences and a Diploma in Police Management Studies from the University of Western Ontario. He is also a graduate of the Executive Development Course at the Canadian Police College as well as Police Management Studies and Executive Management Courses at the OPC.
He is a life member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP). Currently, Mr. Gheysen is a member of the CACP HR Committee, OACP Training Committee, Rotman School of Business Curriculum Advisory Committee, University of Toronto Police Leadership Program, as well as a Board of Director for the Canadian Police Sector Council (CPSC) and Chair of the CPSC Education and Training Committee.
